Martin House Hospice

Lorraine Cartwright

Lorraine Cartwright, along with her partner Malcolm Barrie, have been supporters of Martin House Hospice Care for Children and Young People, since the death of their grandson 13 years ago.

Dion Jolaoso died aged 13 at Martin House, and Lorraine says the care the whole family received made a huge difference to them.

She says: “When we came to see Dion, someone from the care team told us they’d made a bedroom up for us so we could stay with him and my daughter. I’ll never forget that.”

Lorraine and Malcolm regularly donate items to Martin House’s charity shops, and buy raffle tickets and Christmas cards to support the hospice. Last year Lorraine even won the Christmas raffle.

She adds: “I didn’t even look at the prizes, I didn’t expect to win, I just bought the tickets. My daughter said it was a Christmas present from Dion.”
